Name and Laws
This site is created and controlled by Environmental Partnerships Ltd in England. As such, the laws of England will govern these disclaimers, terms and conditions, without giving effect to any principles of conflicting laws. Carbon Me is a brand, trademark and marketing arm of Environmental Partnerships Ltd. Environmental Partnerships Ltd owns this site and all its contents and takes full responsibility and liability for the performance of Carbon Me and will from here on be referred to as Carbon Me. For the avoidance of doubt the company to which this site refers is Environmental Partnerships Ltd and all payments incoming and outgoing will be made to and from Environmental Partnerships Ltd.
Offset Calculator
The metrics used in the Carbon Me calculator are based on those provided by the government governing body, the Carbon Trust and their research arm – DEFRA (Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs). Their guidelines for Green house gas (GHG) emissions are the most up to date, provided in 2007. Carbon Me has taken reasonable care to ensure the information is accurate, but cannot be held liable for any errors or omissions in the information provided to us.
Emissions
In the calculation of the number of trees required to offset the carbon emissions, Carbon Me has used the estimation that on average one tree will offset 730kg of Carbon Dioxide during its full-lifetime. In actual fact trees can live for 100 years and each of the fast growing trees takes approximately 25kg of Co2 from the atmosphere each year for at least 40 years – equating to 1ton+ of Co2 over its lifetime. Individuals’ emissions have been calculated from averages provided by DEFRA under different circumstances in different properties etc. For even more accurate calculations than our questionnaire can determine, please contact us directly either by phone or email.
Planting of Trees
Carbon Me will endeavour to utilize established charities as tree-planting partners and will ensure the correct number of trees are planted. Carbon Me with its tree-planting partners will use its/their best endeavours to ensure the trees are planted in the chosen areas. There may be instances when it is not possible to plant a tree in the area requested. In these cases Carbon Me and/or its tree-planting partner reserve the right to plant the trees in the next best or most similar location.
Ownership of Trees
The party who sponsors the plantation of the tree does so for their own peace of mind and any moral, personal or other responsibilities they feel apparent to themselves and/or others. There is currently no official obligation for them to do so and they are free to choose to pay for as many or as little, if any, trees as they wish. The fact that they subsidized or sponsored the plantation of the tree can be used by them in any means they feel fit however, Carbon Me or its partners can not give any warranties or guarantees as to the future of that tree and similarly, the sponsor has no further obligations to it.
For the avoidance of doubt, neither Carbon Me or the certificated individual or company, or the individual or company who paid for the tree to be planted will have any legal or other rights to the tree at any future date.
Tree Sponsorship
This web site is provided by Carbon Me on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Carbon Me will contribute money for trees to be planted at least one month before the sponsorship is received from any party, and thus Carbon Me can not guarantee that any number of trees will be available for sponsorship at any time. In the event all available trees have already been sponsored that month, or that the number requested are not available then payment will not be processed until they are available and in these unusual circumstances, the sponsor will be informed of the position.

The Carbon Me logo can be used only when and where it is specifically authorized in writing and for those specific purposes and time frames only. Any party claiming to be a partner, sponsor or purchaser of products or services of Carbon Me must be so and must have a valid certificate to justify its claim.
Data protection and Privacy Policy
Carbon Me is the sole owner of the information collected on this web site and will at all times control and be responsible for such information. Carbon Me will not pass or sell any information held to any business or organisation except as necessary through the employment of a third party to help in certain areas, such as website hosting and secure payment processing. At all times however, Carbon Me will with all reasonable care, control and be responsible for the use of information. This does not include the potential release of non-name specific statistical analysis for research and improvement purposes.
Personal information does not have to be given to benefit from most of the website. However to take advantage of some of the services offered by Carbon Me, such as the posting of certificates, we will need information, such as a name and address. When payment is made via our website then credit or debit card details will be sent directly to the bank through 128 bit encrypted secure processing facilities and not held on record by us or our hosting provider.
